She started law school at New York University School of Law, where she was a staff editor on the NYU Law Review and Vice President of the Law and Business Association. During her second year, after her mom was diagnosed with advanced cancer, she transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where she completed her legal studies. She spent four years as an attorney at Latham & Watkins LLP in Los Angeles, specializing in complex commercial and bankruptcy litigation. She then pursued an MBA, graduating first in her class from the University of California, Los Angeles Anderson School of Management, where she focused on entrepreneurship.

Kelly Hughes currently resides in Orange County, California with her husband and two young children. Kelly began her legal career at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. Upon graduating from UCLA, Kelly worked for McDermott, Will & Emery, LLP in their Los Angeles office as a member of the Health Department, focusing her practice on complex healthcare transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. After leaving MWE, Kelly was the Assistant General Counsel for US Renal Care, Inc. based in Plano, Texas. For nearly a decade Kelly lived in the Dallas area and traveled the United States extensively while her husband played Major League Baseball in Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Philadelphia and New York.

Ruby is an estate planning and elder law attorney who lives in Florida with her husband, two children, cat, and dog. Ruby graduated magna cum laude from SUNY Old Westbury and received her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law. Ruby has spent her career working with high net worth families, blended families, and business owners in New York and Florida as a paralegal, associate attorney, and law firm founder.

As an attorney, Ruby understands that her role is not only to be an advocate, but also to listen and counsel. With a background in sociology, Ruby embraces the importance of social understanding and equality for everyone as well as adherence to ethical practices to improve society as a whole. Laura Latta, J.D.

Laura's practice focuses on estate planning, probate, and estate administration for families across the state of Washington. Laura started her law career with McDonough Holland and Allen P.C. where she represented public agencies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California. She served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Sonoma and Assistant Agency Counsel for the Eastern Contra Costa County Transit Authority. ]She is a graduate of the University of California Hastings College of the Law (J.D. 2006) and San Diego State University (B.A. summa cum laude 2002). She lives in Kenmore, Washington with her husband, two feral daughters, and a dog and cat who dislike each other immensely.

Darci Gerdes earned her Juris Doctor degree from Chapman University School of Law and a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution. She has over fourteen years of experience working primarily in the estate planning and trust administration areas of the law. She enjoys working with families to create a perfectly customized plan for their unique situations as well as asset protection and business planning. She believes in the saying (paraphrased from Benjamin Franklin) “Failure to plan is planning to fail”. Darci is a dedicated wife and an involved mother to her four children. She is active in her church and community. She loves traveling to watch her children play sports, volunteering at her church, and enjoying the beautiful Colorado weather.

Michelle Ferrer, J.D., M.B.A.

Michelle Ferrer is a business and trusts and estates attorney. Michelle’s practice includes creating estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, and other ancillary documents. The estate plans range from outright wills to more complex tax-minimization trusts as well as a full range of services related to Special Needs Planning and Adult Guardianships.  She is experienced in advising high net worth individuals on sophisticated estate planning techniques, as well as gift tax analysis and planning. Michelle has assisted families, business owners, executives, and closely-held family businesses in conserving, managing, and transferring wealth, while minimizing transfer taxes.

Michelle obtained her Juris Doctorate from American University, Washington College of Law and earned her Masters in Business Administration from American University, Kogod School of Business. Michelle currently resides in New Jersey with her family and is studying to become a private pilot.

Sophia Munson, J.D.​

Sophia received her B.A. from the University of Virginia and her Juris Doctorate from the William & Mary School of Law. Prior to joining the Munson Law Firm, Sophia’s diverse background included working for a cultural heritage law firm, a boutique general practice law firm, a large corporate law firm, a hedge fund and an international consulting group. Through it all, Sophia’s primary interest has remained the same—for her, it has always been about the people. She is experienced at working with clients with diverse backgrounds, family compositions, and asset levels. Sophia is particularly passionate about assisting clients with a family member with special needs or mental health concerns.

In her spare time, Sophia is busy chasing around her two young children, ages 6 and 3.5. She and her husband live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Sophia enjoys playing outside with her children, singing the soundtrack to Frozen, cooking spaghetti, destroying the kitchen with her kids’ art projects, and putting off laundry for as long as possible.

Nancy has spent her over 20-year career working with companies, business owners, and their families in New York and Georgia, first as an attorney at prominent law firms and now as founder of her own firm.
